3.8 Would Jesus have gone to the cross just for you?

Sometimes, we think that Jesus came to die for the whole world because the whole world seemed important enough for Him. Would Jesus have gone to the cross just for you or me?

Gal 2:20 says, “The Son of God, who loved ME and gave Himself for ME.” This verse brings the love of Christ to the level of an individual.

In the Parable of the Lost Sheep (Matt 18:12-14), Jesus said that He would leave 99 sheep to seek out the one that strayed. He would rejoice more over that one sheep than the 99 that did not stray. Jesus focuses on that one sheep – you.

In the Parable of the Pearl of Great Price (Matt 13:45-46), Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all he had and bought it.

Some people think that the merchant represents the believer who finds Jesus, the priceless pearl. In reality, Jesus was saying that He had to pay the price with all He had, even His own life, to purchase your redemption because you are the one and priceless pearl to Him.

The angels in heaven rejoice over just one sinner who comes to repentance (Luke 15:10). They had a party in heaven when you got saved. Jesus would have gone to the cross just for you.
