3.2 God is the source of unconditional love

Where can we find true love? Where is the source of love? The Bible says that God is love (1 John 4:8). He is the source of unconditional and unlimited love.

(1 John 4:7-8)
Beloved, let us love one another, for LOVE IS OF GOD; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE.

Love is missing in this world. Satan cannot fake it because he does not have it. People’s capacity to love is limited. All of us have been disappointed by people before. God is the only source. The world is looking for love in all the wrong places. They are putting their security in people’s love.

Human love is selfish because it is conditional. It expects a reciprocation of love. Human love can disappoint us. God’s love is unconditional for it does not seek its own. God’s love does not fail us. God's love believes in us.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS.

Receiving God’s love makes us whole as individuals. It helps us to be secure from within. God’s love also gives us the power to forgive others and to be set free from the bondage of unforgiveness in relationships. It helps us develop healthy relationships as a whole person.

When we have received God’s love, we will find a higher capacity to love others with his unconditional love. Therefore, we must draw from God’s love.
