2.21 The perception of the inward voice

Our human spirit “perceives” while the natural mind “reasons”. To be led by the inward voice, we have to perceive what the Holy Spirit is writing on our hearts. It is not something that originates from our mind, through the realm of reason.

Let me share an interesting passage that shows how Jesus moved in the realm of “perception” while the people tried to “reason” in the natural and missed God.

When Jesus wanted to heal the paralytic, he said, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” The scribes started “reasoning” in their hearts over what Jesus said. Immediately, Jesus “perceived” in his spirit what they reasoned.

(Mark 2:8-9)
But immediately, when Jesus PERCEIVED in His spirit that they REASONED thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?

The Apostle Paul also moved in the realm of perception. When Paul was on his voyage to Rome, he “perceived” in his spirit that the journey would end up in disaster with great loss.

(Acts 27:9-10)
Paul advised them, saying, “Men, I PERCEIVE that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives.”

Paul was not guessing and it was not the human sixth sense. It was the guidance of the Holy Spirit in his heart – the inward voice. He perceived it and he warned the people. They did not heed him, and the disaster happened just as he had perceived.

Today, we are to perceive the inward voice in our spirit in order to be led by the Holy Spirit.
