3.4 Jesus came to reveal God as our Father
The law demanded for perfect righteousness which mankind could not attain. The justice of God demanded for the death of the sinner. Jesus fulfilled the righteousness of the law (Matt 5:17). He also satisfied and exhausted the judgment for our sins on the cross. Jesus satisfied the full justice of God and have gave us His gift of righteousness (2 Cor 5:21). Because we are in Christ, we are now Children of God and God is our Father.
(John 1:12-13)
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Jesus has revealed God as our Father. When Jesus was on earth, He addressed God as His Father. This level of intimacy with God was unheard of. In fact the religious Jews took offence that Jesus called God as Father (John 5:18). Jesus taught us to address God as Father (Matt 6:9). Jesus said that He has manifested (revealed) God as Father to us.
(John 17:1-6)
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “FATHER, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You…“I have MANIFESTED [REVEALED] YOUR NAME to the men whom You have given Me out of the world.
In the New Covenant, God revealed Himself as Father. Justice has been satisfied by Jesus. We can enjoy a new and intimate relationship with God through Christ. We no longer fear God’s judgment or keep a distance. We no longer feel uncomfortable in His presence. In fact, God has come so close to us. We are joined as one to God in spirit (1 Cor 6:17)
On the birthday of the Church on Pentecost, God sent His Spirit to personally indwell man. He lives in us. His presence in us is a seal of our eternal righteousness in Christ. We have received the Spirit of sonship by whom we cry out Daddy God (Rom 8:15). We have received what the Old Testament saints longed for because we are now in Christ.
God is our Father and He loves us. Go on and call Him, “Daddy God.”
