3.10 Overcoming insecurity with the love of God

Everyone needs to place his or her security in something or someone. It could be their career, wealth, family or friends. But possessions can disappear and people disappoint. When we are insecure, we become dysfunctional and this causes problems in relationships.

This is often a serious problem for teenagers (for those of us with kids) who are trying to find their identity and their security in a turbulent world where change is the only constant. They look for security in friends, and for that reason, they are subject to peer pressure. They always want to be accepted. They can be tender, sensitive and easily hurt.

God’s love can heal that insecurity. A believer established in God’s love becomes secure and whole. There is one thing above all else that I keep reinforcing to my children – that God loves them. People may change and circumstances may change but He faithful and His love is unchanging. His love never fails (1 Cor 13:8) and no one can separate us from His love. His love will cause us and our children to be more than conquerors.

(Romans 8:37-39)
Yet in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through Him who LOVED US. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the LOVE OF GOD which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are secure and unshakable if we put our security in Him. Allow Father God to heal any insecurity in our hearts today. Say this prayer from your heart:

Heavenly Father,
I put my security in You alone and in none other. I know that I rest secure in Your unfailing love. You are my Father and when I have You, I have everything. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
