2.6 Getting to know the Holy Spirit

As we are in the dispensation where the Holy Spirit is on center stage, it is important to know Him, and to relate to Him.

There is one God in three persons – God the Father, God the Son-Jesus and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4).

Though He is a separate Person in the Trinity, He is one in purpose with God the Father and our Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit is also referred to as the “Spirit of God” or the “Spirit of Christ” interchangeably in Rom 8:9.

(Rom 8:9, NKJV)
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the SPIRIT OF GOD dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is not His.

Jesus came to this earth to glorify God the Father. When Jesus went back to heaven, He sat down at the right hand of the Father and poured out the Holy Spirit on the Church to reveal and glorify Him.

The Holy Spirit is the power behind creation. God the Father spoke the word and everything was made through Jesus (John 1:3), by the power of the Holy Spirit (Gen 1:2).

The Holy Spirit is also the power behind redemption. Jesus died on the cross for mankind and God raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:20; Rom 8:11).
