2.3 Jesus sends us a Helper

For 3 years, Jesus’ disciples depended on Him. But Jesus told them that it was advantageous for Him to leave them so that the Holy Spirit could come to them. Jesus had to complete the work of redemption before the Holy Spirit could be poured out on all believers.

(John 16:7, NKJV)
It is to your ADVANTAGE that I go away; for if I do not go away, THE HELPER will not come to you; but if I depart, I will SEND HIM to you.

What is the advantage of having the Holy Spirit? On earth, Jesus experienced the limitation of being at one place at a time. If Jesus could impart His Spirit to every believer, then He could be living in, and ministering through all of us without physical limitations. Wouldn’t that be great? That is already a reality.

Today, our Helper, the Holy Spirit is with each of us to help us to grow in our relationship with our heavenly Father through Jesus. We need to know Him and to depend on His help. We will be sharing more about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
