1.9 Faith is to believe God’s Word in spite of the circumstances

When you hope to get something, there is no certainty to it. It is just a hope. When you have faith, you are sure of the things that you hope for. Where does this certainty come from? It comes from the promises in God's Word. You know you have it because God’s Word says so.

(Hebrews 11:1, NCV)
Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

Therefore, faith means that we believe God’s Word in spite of the circumstances that we see. When you believe in your heart, you will receive.

Mental assent sounds like faith but is not faith. Mental assent is from the mind but faith is from the heart. Mental assent says, “I know God’s Word is true. I know God has provided healing, but for some reason I can’t get it.” However, real faith says, “If God’s Word says it’s true, then it’s true. It’s mine and I have it now. I have it even though I can’t see it because God is true.” We talk and walk like God’s Word is true.
