1.2 Abundant life in Christ includes healing

We need to know that sickness is not part of God’s perfect will. This knowledge will enable us to receive His healing promise.

When God created Adam and Eve, they were not subject to sicknesses and death. It came about as a consequence of sin. Satan has taken advantage of sin to oppress mankind. John 10:10 says that the devil is out to steal, kill and destroy.

(John 10:10, NKJV)
The thief [Satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

In contrast, Jesus came to give us abundant life. Abundant life includes eternal life, peace of mind and good health. In order to give us the promise of life and health, Jesus had to redeem us from the root problem of sin. On the cross, He paid the price for our sins, and He also bore the stripes for our healing.
