2.4 We are in the dispensation where the Holy Spirit is on center stage

God the Father took center stage in the Old Testament. He was the key Person who spoke to Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, King David and the nation of Israel.

Then Jesus appeared in the four Gospels and took center stage. Jesus said that if you have seen Him, you have seen the Father (John 14:9). We see Him teaching, preaching and healing the sick. Finally He went to the cross to die for the whole world.

When Jesus ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit was poured out in Acts chapter 2, and took center stage in the book of Acts. He came to glorify Jesus who had earlier come to glorify the Father. He empowered the believers to live their Christian lives. He confirmed the gospel with signs and wonders.

The book of Acts reveals the “acts of the Holy Spirit” through the apostles and believers. If you read the book of Acts, you would notice that there is no ending to the book. We are still living in the book of Acts and we are the characters whom the Holy Spirit is using today.

There is also a progression of intimacy. God the Father spoke to His people from the cloud in the Old Testament. Jesus our Immanuel dwelled with His people in the Gospels. Today, the Holy Spirit dwells in all believers in the New Covenant.

We live in the dispensation where the Holy Spirit is at center stage, playing the main role in the lives of believers and the Church. We need His empowerment to live our Christian lives. We need to know Him and His ministry very well, and we need to be led by Him.
