10.5 Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He sent His Son Jesus to this world, that whoever believes in Him would be saved. Isn’t that God’s will in heaven? - To send Jesus to redeem us and for us to believe in Him. God had prepared a body for Jesus, so that Jesus could come to do the Father’s will; to be the final sacrifice.
(Heb 10:5-7)
Therefore, when HE CAME INTO THE WORLD, He said:
“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
TO DO YOUR WILL, O God.’ ”
Jesus would come to die on the cross. No, it wasn’t easy for Jesus to do God’s will. He had to lay down His will to do the Father’s will. Going to the cross wasn’t easy. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus saw what was before Him and He struggled till his sweat fell like great drops of blood. Then an angel strengthened Him to fulfill God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
(Luke 22:41-43)
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS, BE DONE.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
Our salvation may be free but it came at a great price. There is nothing we can do to earn that salvation – we only have to believe. Jesus has already fulfilled God’s will. So the fulfillment of God’s will on the part of mankind is to believe in Him.
(John 6:40)
40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life…
Today, you have the one who fulfilled God’s will living in you. Let Him live through you by faith. And we have been given the ministry of reconciliation to bring the gospel of His love to mankind that they may also fulfill God’s will through believing in Jesus.
