10.3 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name (Part 2)

When the Holy Spirit came to live in us, we became the temple of God. The Holy Spirit causes worship to rise from the temple. When we are filled with the Spirit, inevitably it will result in worship.

In the New Covenant, there is a new expression of worship that comes through the Holy Spirit. It is called worshipping in the Spirit, just as Jesus said that we will worship in Spirit and in truth. Paul also calls it worshipping with the Spirit (1 Cor 14:15).

Let us use two case studies in the book of Acts to prove that the filling of the Holy Spirit results in Worship.

(Acts 2:4, 8-11)
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—we hear them SPEAKING IN OUR OWN TONGUES THE WONDERFUL WORKS OF GOD.”

The other occasion is when the household of Cornelius received the Lord. When they were filled, the Holy Spirit caused them to magnify God in a new language.

(Acts 10:44-46)
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them SPEAK WITH TONGUES AND MAGNIFY GOD.

Likewise, we are to be filled with the Spirit – speaking to one another in psalms, and hymns, and SPIRITUAL SONGS. Being filled causes us to make melody in our heart to the Lord. Do you catch the revelation – you are the temple of God – the walking, talking, living house of worship. And the Holy Spirit brings forth worship in you and through you – in the New Covenant.

(Eph 5:18-19)
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord…
