8.110 My spiritual journey of discovering God’s grace (Pt 4)

Within 6 months of that prophecy in Malaysia, I returned to Singapore as a freshman in the university. By that time I had been attending a Lutheran Church with my roommate. I was wondering what would happen next after my earlier encounter.

To my surprise, the Holy Spirit visited my Lutheran church in a powerful way. As my Lutheran church was very conservative, that was the last thing I expected to happen on planet earth!

The church had invited a prophet and Bible teacher from New Zealand, Rev. Des Short, to minister at our annual retreat at Batam Island in Indonesia. Rev. Des Short is the principal and founder of Faith Bible College in New Zealand and co-founder of Tung Ling Bible College in Singapore.

He is a fatherly figure, full of love and full of the radiance of God. During one of the nights after the teaching, Rev. Des Short gave an altar call and most of the people responded. The anointing was strong upon him. The man of God looked to heaven, gave a deep groan in his spirit and started prophesying to every person who went forward.

The Holy Spirit spoke to the depths of every heart. People were touched by the love and revelation of God. Many were in tears. Some fell under God’s power. Others were awe-struck. This visitation of the Holy Spirit resulted in a powerful revival that swept through the church.

I had accompanied a friend for prayer but ended up receiving a prophecy that spoke to my heart. It was like a sequel to the prophecy I had received six months earlier, unveiling greater details of God’s plan.

“You are in the desert...Egypt behind and the promised land in front. You must leave the past behind. You must be wholehearted in faith as Joshua and Caleb, and then you shall enter the promised land. I will use you as the commander of the Lord’s army,” said the prophet of God.

That prophecy gave me hope because I had been living in my past with no vision of the future. I received a new vision and purpose in God, to enter into His promised land for my life. Like Joshua and Caleb, I was to put my complete trust in God’s promises in spite of the giants ahead. This prophecy also confirmed the earlier prophecy of restoration.

Shortly after the retreat, I got involved in the revival as the youth fellowship president. During those revival years, I experienced the fulfillment of the prophecies. The Lord restored me through His grace and love. As I availed myself to His service among the youths, I began to experience the power and reality of the Holy Spirit.
