7.47 The benefits of praying in tongues – for spiritual warfare

Eph 6:10-18 is written in the context of spiritual warfare. After putting on our armor of God by establishing our lives in Jesus with regard to truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation and sword of the Spirit, we are ready for battle and to take the victory that Jesus has won for us. We are all dressed up, but how do we engage in battle?

We stand against the devil and take that victory in spiritual warfare by praying in the spirit. We also make supplication in the spirit for the saints of God to experience victory in spiritual warfare.

(Eph 6:17-18)
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication IN THE SPIRIT, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

There are times in our life when things don’t seem to fall in line with the Word of God. There seems to be some spiritual warfare going on. But we know that Christ has purchased our victory on the cross. We do not fight for that victory. We fight from that victory. We STAND on victory ground. The Bible says to STAND.

(Eph 6:13)
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to WITHSTAND in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND.

During our Encounter Meeting a few hours ago, I was just ministering to a lady who experienced disturbances in her sleep ever since her husband brought back an idol into the home. There were also other challenges at home which were beyond her control.

We prayed together to take authority of the situation as kings and priests in Christ. Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. Our victory is in Christ based on His finished work. It is times like these that we need to pray in the Spirit, to stand in the victory by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a powerful weapon in the spiritual realm, unlike the weapons of this world.
