6.27 You will reign as kings in life

When God created Adam & Eve, He gave them dominion over everything on this earth (Gen 1:28). You could say that God made them the king and the queen on this earth. But when Satan tempted them, they committed high treason and lost their dominion on this earth. Their dominion was taken over by Satan, whom the Bible calls the “god of this age” and the “ruler of this world” (2 Cor 4:4; John 12:31). This explains why the world is filled with so many problems.

In order to restore man’s spiritual dominion on this earth, Jesus had to give up His dominion in heaven, to die for the sins of mankind on earth. On the cross, Jesus broke the power of sin, and took back spiritual authority from Satan. The Bible says that the ruler of this world has been judged and cast down (John 16:11, 12:31; Luke 10:18). Jesus has complete spiritual authority in heaven and on earth (Col 2:14-15; Eph 1:22; Phil 2:8-11).

Jesus has delegated His spiritual authority on this earth to us, the Church, which is His body on earth (Matt 28:18-19; Luke 10:19; Matt 10:1; Mark 16:17-18). Jesus, the King of heaven gave up his kingship in order to restore us as kings to His Father. Romans 5:17 says that through Jesus, we will REIGN IN LIFE through the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.

(Romans 5:17, NKJV)
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will REIGN IN LIFE through the One, Jesus Christ.)…

According to the Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon, the root word “reign” means “to make one king or queen, cause to reign”. The Amplified version brings it out clearly – to “reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ.”

It is clear that in Christ, we are to reign in life as kings. This was God’s design for us even from the Garden of Eden. What does it mean to reign in life?

It means that we are to reign over Satan and the kingdom of darkness. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. It also means that we are to reign over circumstances in life – over sickness, depression, unforgiveness, barrenness, debt, etc.

A good example would be to look at the life of Jesus. He ruled over every circumstance. He was never under the circumstance. In the midst of the storm, His peace reigned. In the midst of lack, He fed five thousand. When the sick came to Him, He healed them all. Don’t you love Jesus? Today, He lives in us to rule through us.

When we see ourselves as kings in Christ, we will find the power of Christ from within us to reign over circumstances. Dont be under the circumstances. Let Christ arise and be above the circumstances.
