6.18 You have been blessed with every blessing in Christ
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…
If you refer to the Amplified Bible, it clarifies that the above verse is talking “blessings given by the Holy Spirit” as opposed to blessings limited to the spiritual realm. The blessings given by the Holy Spirit can impact us in the soul realm and physical realm too. A good example is in Romans 8:11 which says that the Holy Spirit gives life to our “mortal bodies.” This is physical.
Let us not spiritualize everything. We know that sin resulted in spiritual death. But sin also brought about fear, stress, loss of peace, labor-pains, sickness and physical death. Likewise, the redemption of Christ brings God’s blessings into every area of our lives.
God’s blessings start from within us when we received Jesus. Our spirit came alive as a new creation joined with the Holy Spirit. Then it flows out to our emotions. Condemnation is replaced by love. Anxiety is replaced by peace. Depression is replaced by joy. The light of God causes the wisdom of God to flow in our minds. Wisdom results in financial blessings and prosperity. The Holy Spirit also brings health and healing to our bodies. God cares for us holistically. All our blessings in Christ are our inheritance.
Once, a minister of God was about to pray for his congregation to be blessed. Then the Holy Spirit told him that he need not pray for blessings. The man was puzzled. The Holy Spirit told him that all the blessings of God had been poured out 2,000 years ago. The Holy Spirit pointed him back to the finished work of Christ. So instead of asking for blessings, the man proclaimed to the people the blessing that they already have in Christ.
Instead of asking God for blessings (which presupposes that you do not have them), we can give thanks that we have already been blessed with every blessing in Christ Jesus. We do not try to attain to the blessings, but we speak forth by faith and allow the blessings of God to be manifested from within us.
When we have this revelation, we begin to pray differently. Instead of always pleading, we proclaim what we already have. We do this by faith on the basis of His finished work. And instead of asking, we will spend more time giving thanks. This is why Paul says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” If you are conscious of what you have, you will find it natural to give thanks without ceasing.
Today, we must know that you have been blessed with every blessing in Christ. This is your inheritance. When you give thanks and proclaim by faith what you have, you will experience its manifestation. This is consistent with how God works. Romans 4:17 says that God calls those things that do not exist as though they did. The manifestation follows the proclamation o faith.
