2.8 The Holy Spirit is our Companion

Every person needs fellowship – be it with friends or family members. Some are blessed with good friends or spouses. But many people in the world are lonely deep within their hearts. Today, we have a special Friend who is closer to us than all others – even if we do not realize it. He has been with us since the day we received Jesus into our hearts.

(John 14:16-17)
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another HELPER, that He may ABIDE WITH YOU forever... for He DWELLS WITH you and WILL BE IN YOU.

Jesus said that His Spirit abides with us forever as our Helper and Companion. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. We can have fellowship and communion with Him (2 Cor 13:14). He is real. We can talk to Him and experience His leading in our hearts. He wants to be our best Friend, just as He was to Kathryn Kuhlman. In our moment of need, we can receive help from Him.

When we experience Him as our Companion, we will never feel lonely again. We will enjoy great fellowship with Him, and we can face the challenges of life with His help. Cho Yonggi depended on the Holy Spirit to build the largest church in the world. He is conscious of the Person whom he calls, “My Senior Partner.”
