10.7 Give us this day our daily bread (Part 2)
That wasn’t all. What about our physical needs? The Bible tells us that though Jesus was rich, yet on the cross He became poor that we through His poverty might become rich. In short, He took our poverty and gave us His richness. On the cross, He was so poor that even His robe was gambled away.
(2 Cor 8:9)
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
Just in case some might spiritualize the above verse, let it be known that the context of the chapter talks about giving of material wealth (2 Cor 8:3). The Bible declares that we have His richness and provisions. In fact He shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. How great are His riches? It is limitless – limited only by our minds.
(Phil 4:19)
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
In fact, the Bible says that God has blessed us with every blessing given by the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:3, Amplified Bible). It is in the past tense. The price for all our blessings has been paid on the cross. We don’t even need to ask for blessings, we simply need to receive that which has been given already.
The point I am making is that God has given us more than daily bread. He has given us every blessing in Christ. And today, we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus (Rom 8:17). We can trust in His physical provisions for us.
We encourage you to meditate on those verses above until it becomes a revelation. God doesn’t want us to have a poverty mentality. He gives us power to get wealth to establish His covenant – for the furtherance of the Gospel.
When we believe in His promises, God will put His grace and wisdom upon the believer to fulfill that promise. Through wisdom, Solomon had the power to get wealth. Wisdom translates into practical decisions and actions on a daily basis. If you need God’s supply, believe His promises and depend on His grace and wisdom each day – be it in business, in investments, in closing the sale, in getting the right job, or in excelling at work.
