9.24 The Son exalted above angels
But as much as we revere angels, God tells us in the book of Hebrews that the Son of God is exalted above the angels. There is no comparison. Angels are ministering spirits of God, but Jesus is the Son of God.
(Hebrews 1:5-14)
For to which of the angels did He ever say:
“You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You”?
And again:
“I will be to Him a Father,
And He shall be to Me a Son”?
But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says:
“Let all the angels of God worship Him.”
And of the angels He says:
“Who makes His angels spirits
And His ministers a flame of fire.”
But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever…”
If the word spoken by angels in the Old Testament proved steadfast, and the people took heed of their words, how much more should we listen to the Son of God?
Today the Son of God has spoken, and His words were confirmed to us by those who heard Him. This message has been written down for us in the Gospels and Epistles. When the disciples of Jesus preached the words of Christ, the Holy Spirit confirmed those words with signs and wonders.
(Hebrews 2:2-4)
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Today, the Son is exalted above the angels. We have the privilege of listening to Him. His words hold great power. When we share His words with others, the Holy Spirit will also confirm them with signs and wonders.
