9.21 Seeing Jesus revealed throughout the Old Testament (continued)

See Jesus leading the Church into the promised-land of rest when you see Joshua leading Israel into Canaan. Joshua’s name is the Hebrew name for Jesus.

See the blood of Jesus delivering us when you see the scarlet cord delivering Rahab and her family at the walls of Jericho. See the Gentiles embracing the gospel by faith when we see the faith of Rahab, a Gentile.

See the story of Jesus in the story of Gideon’s fleece. Gideon asked God to keep the first fleece wet while the surrounding remains dry. The fleece (from the wool of the sheep) represents Jesus the Lamb of God, who was wet with the dew of heaven, coming to a world that was in dryness.

Then Gideon asked God to keep the second fleece dry while the surrounding is wet. This is a picture of Jesus who emptied Himself in going to the cross, so that the river of the Spirit may be poured down on the Day of Pentecost.

See the love story of Jesus and the Church when you read the love story of Boaz and Ruth in the book of Ruth. See Jesus our Redeemer when you see Boaz who redeemed Ruth. See the ministry of the Holy Spirit preparing the bride of Christ, when you read about Noami.

See Jesus defeating Satan when you read about David defeating Goliath. See Jesus representing the whole world in His victory, when you see David representing Israel in his victory.

See Jesus when you read the prophetic Psalms of David. Read about Jesus our Shepherd when you read Psalm 23. Read about our position in Christ, seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus when you read about the secret place of Psalm 91.

See Jesus reigning in heaven with eternal glory when you see Solomon reigning on the throne, in all his natural glory. See the love story of Jesus and the Church in the love story of the Song of Solomon.

See Jesus who was resurrected after three days in Hades when you read of Jonah in the belly of the fish for three days.

See Jesus through the prophecies in the prophetic books. See Jesus going to the cross when you read Isaiah 53. See God’s plan for the New Covenant when you read Isaiah 54.

We could just go on as Jesus is everywhere in the Old Testament. Today, we have the privilege to read the Bible “unveiled” with the help of the Holy Spirit.
