8.74 Works of faith – walking in the mind of Christ

(1 Corinthians 1:30)
But of Him you are IN CHRIST Jesus, who became for us WISDOM FROM GOD—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption…

How many of us could do with more wisdom? The above verse tells us that because we are in Christ, He has become for us wisdom from God. He is the wisdom of God that lives in us.

When mankind fell into sin, they were alienated from the life of God. As a result, their understanding became darkened and they walked in the futility of their minds (Eph 4:17-18).

When we received Jesus, His Spirit of life came to reside in us. The light of God came into our darkened minds. 1 Cor 1:5 says of the Corinthians that, “You were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you…”

In the past I used to pray that God will give my children wisdom like Daniel. Then I realized that Solomon was the wisest man in the Old Testament and I prayed for the wisdom like Solomon. Finally, I realized that there was one who was greater than Solomon, who came 2,000 years ago (Matt 12:42). His name is Jesus. And today He lives in us through His Spirit. He has become for us wisdom from God.

When we are entangled in a web of problems and we need wisdom, we can look to Jesus. When we do not understand the Bible, we can look to Jesus. When we are faced with complex problems at work, we can look to Jesus. When we do not know what the best decision for our future is, we can look to Jesus. No, we may not know everything at any point in time, but we can depend on Him who knows everything. We can receive instructions directly from the mind of Jesus because He is our wisdom. The Bible declares that “WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST” What an awesome verse!

(1 Cor 2:16)
For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.

Walking in faith is to depend on the mind of Christ instead of our human wisdom. When we do not know what to do, we declare, “I have the mind of Christ”. Then we listen to Christ in us and follow His leading. Even if we are confident of our human wisdom, we still submit to Christ in us. This is true works of faith.
