9.36 Experiencing the true substance of Christ – the Golden Lampstand
The Golden Lampstand is made of gold – which represents divinity. There are seven shafts which are lighted through oil supplied by the central shaft. When the shafts are lighted, the light from the shafts go towards illuminating the central shaft.
What does it mean? Gold represents divinity. We get to experience the divine God in us through His Spirit. Oil represents the Holy Spirit. The seven shafts represent the Church of Christ (the seven churches). The central shaft which is flanked by the other shafts represents Jesus. The book of Revelations tells us that Jesus is in the midst of the seven lampstands, which represent the seven churches.
(Rev 1:12-13, 20)
Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and IN THE MIDST OF THE SEVEN LAMPSTANDS One like the Son of Man…
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the SEVEN LAMPSTANDS which you saw are the SEVEN CHURCHES.
Jesus is the central shaft that supplies the Holy Spirit to us. He is the baptizer in the Holy Spirit. When He sat down at the right hand of the Father, he poured out the Spirit on the Church on the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.
When the believer is filled with the oil of the Spirit, they have the power within to burn bright. They carry the light of Christ in them. They are the light of the world. When the light shines through your life, and through the church, Jesus is illuminated – He is glorified.
Therefore Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so that He can be the life living in us, and through us. When we allow His to be manifested in us, He is glorified through us.
This is the privilege we have in the New Covenant. We get to experience Spirit filled living through the baptism in the Spirit. We get to experience the leading of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit. Christianity become exciting with the Holy Spirit, just as it was in the book of Acts.
