8.76 Works of faith – We are His workmanship created for good works
The Bible says that you are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus. This new creation in Christ is a masterpiece from God. You are not an accident. You don’t just exist. You are not insignificant. You were bought with a price. You were specially designed. You ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP – unique, beautiful and created for a special purpose.
(Ephesians 2:8-10)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Eph 2:8 tell us that we have been saved by grace through faith. It was the blood and the finished work of Jesus that redeemed us. It was not because of our good works. As such there is nothing to boast in ourselves.
But when the blood of Jesus redeemed us, we became a new creation in Christ. This new being is specially designed by God with a purpose. It is the dwelling place of the Spirit of Christ, and Jesus wants to express Himself through our lives. He wants to work in us and through us. When this happens, people will see the good works of Jesus flowing from our lives.
We were not saved BECAUSE OF good works. We were saved FOR good works in Christ. We are not under works of the law. We are under works of faith.
Today, many people are trying to earn God’s righteousness and God’s blessings through good works. They always fall short because they are not living from the finished work of Christ. They are trying to attain what Christ has already attained on the cross for them. Christianity becomes a labor and they experience spiritual dryness.
However, when we rest in the finished work of Christ, we will find Him working in us and through us. We know we are righteous in Him. We know we are blessed through Him. We will always feel sufficient for good works. Christianity becomes a rest in Christ. We will experience the land of milk and honey.
Declare this, “I am the workmanship of God created in Christ Jesus for good works.” Let Jesus fulfill His unique purpose in your life as you rest in Him. This is works of faith.
