8.57 I live by the faith of the Son of God

We have highlighted the key difference between faith in the Old Covenant vs. faith in the New Covenant. In the Old Covenant, people had to have “faith in God”. They heard from God and they had to put their faith in God. In the New Covenant, faith [Jesus] lives inside us through the person of the Holy Spirit.

2 Cor 4:13 says, “And since we have the same SPIRIT OF FAITH, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke...’” The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Faith. Since we have the same Holy Spirit – the Spirit of faith, likewise we believe and we speak. The Holy Spirit of Faith is us enables us to believe and to speak.

We so not struggle to have faith. We rest in His faith which operates in us and through us. What a wonderful covenant we have. Truly the mystery is about Christ is us, the hope of glory.

Let us share more verses. Jesus said in Mark 11:22, “So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God.’” If you read the King James Version, there is a note that says “or, Have the faith of God.” It talks about having the faith of God.

Gal 2:20 of the King James Version says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

This is the way we should live life – by the faith of the Son of God. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

There is an interesting observation. When you read the Gospels (before faith came into the believer), you find that Jesus was quite harsh with the believer at times. He would chide them when they did not have faith in Him. They had to struggle to have faith in Him.

But in the Epistles, you find that the language of the New Covenant is different. Paul does not ask the people where their faith is. He is not harsh with them. He did not expect them to struggle to have faith.

Paul tells them that they have faith. This is because Jesus (faith) already lives in them. He encourages them to grow in that saving faith. He encourages them to grow from faith to faith. Do you realize the difference? Go check it out and catch the wonderful revelation.
