4.12 Receiving a new name in the New Covenant

Another step of the Hebrew ceremony is to receive a new name. When God entered into covenant with Abram, his name was changed to Abraham. The “h” sound comes from God’s name Yahweh.

What about us? Today we are called Christians. We carry the name of Christ.

(Acts 11:26, NKJV)
And the disciples were first called CHRISTIANS in Antioch.

Today, we carry His name because He lives in us. Gal 2:20 says that it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

We are privileged to be called by His name as Christians. We are reminded that we are in covenant with God because of Jesus.

On this Christmas, we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. He made all the difference for us. He saved us, redeemed us, and brought us into covenant with God. He was born with one purpose to die for us. We express our love for Him because He first loved us.
