7.31 Testimony – Ministering the baptism in the Spirit

Over the years, we have had had the opportunity to minister the baptism in the Spirit to many people. We are always amazed when we see a hungry soul with a yielded heart touched by the Spirit of God.

Florence and I shared about the baptism in the Spirit with our university mate, Sister Mani, and she desired greatly to receive the baptism. There was a great hunger in her spirit. We proceeded to lay hands on her but before our hands could even reach her, the Spirit fell upon her and she burst out in tongues and prayed for quite a while. As she was praying, she saw a beautiful vision of the Lord pushing her on a swing as a loving father. She was in tears because of God’s love.

On another occasion, I shared with my good friend, Alex. It took a bit longer because he had many questions. After reading all the Scriptures, he was convinced. We went to the rooftop of the university building to pray. I laid my hands on him and prayed by faith for him to receive but nothing happened immediately. That night, as he was sleeping, he suddenly woke up and found himself sitting on the bed with the unction to pray in tongues, and he prayed.

Those were the two spectacular experiences we encountered. But the majority of the people that we prayed for simply prayed in tongues by faith as we laid hands on them. The experiences were usually not spectacular but supernatural.

More recently, we ministered to an elderly lady in Australia. Though we had not shared about the baptism, we had given an open invitation for prayer. The lady came forward and was touched by the Holy Spirit. She started groaning from the depths of her heart and her face was radiant. It was glorious.

There are also many occasions when people received without the laying of hands. I had shared to a friend of mine about the Lord. She had a great hunger. When she was in church, during worship, she was touched by the Holy Spirit; prayed out in tongues, saw a beautiful vision and felt the tangible presence of the Spirit. It was only after her experience that I shared from the Word to help her understand it. This shows that if an individual is hungry enough for more of Jesus, the Holy Spirit can touch the person without even the need for anyone to minister – just like in the upper room on the day of Pentecost.
