8.26 The secret to victorious Christian living

Christians are constantly searching for the key to victorious Christian living. They are always looking for the secret of what THEY MUST DO to receive God’s blessings for success. Unfortunately, they won’t find the answer because they are looking under the wrong covenant. The answer is found in the New Covenant, and the secret is WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE for us on the cross.

There is no secret in what we must do, or what we can do. We know that we are all subjected to the limitations of our flesh. We are subjected to the laws of sin and death. There is nothing we can do to even produce a healing or a miracle. Based on what we do, we can only get what we deserve via natural laws, though much laboring.

So we need to go beyond what we can earn in the flesh. We need a higher power to help us in our daily lives. We need the intervention of an unlimited God to help us break free from our limitations. We need the power to produce healing, miracles and to redeem us in the midst of circumstances. But this power is something that we cannot earn or deserve. So this help from God can only come on the basis of grace – based on what Christ has done on the cross.

When we are sick and we don’t deserve healing, Jesus took the stripes for our healing. When we suffer lack we don’t deserve His provisions, Jesus became poor that we may become rich. When we don’t know what to do, and there is no one to help us, Jesus gives us the mind of Christ to instruct us. When our relationships are in trouble, and maybe we blew it, Jesus was rejected by His people so that we can experience reconciliation. Whatever the problem, we can go to the cross to receive His grace in times of trouble.

The grace of God even empowers us to perform. When we lack in ability, He becomes our ability. The gifts of God are given by grace so that we can perform beyond our limitations (Romans 12:6; Eph 4:7). Paul labored more abundantly than the rest and shook the world by the power of grace (1 Cor 15:10).

So the key to victorious Christian living is to draw from the grace of God in every aspect of our lives. Romans 5:17 tells us that the secret to reigning in life is through the ABUNDANCE of God’s GRACE, which also supplied the gift of righteousness.

(Romans 5:17)
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive ABUNDANCE OF GRACE and of the gift of righteousness will REIGN IN LIFE through the One, Jesus Christ.

Today, the quest of the Christian is to grow in the grace of God. 1 Peter 1:2 says, “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”
