5.27 Epistles – Christianity is about who you are in Christ

Jesus said that we have to be born again in order to see the kingdom of God. Christianity is not about what we do but who we are. Are we born again in Christ? If you are born again in Christ, the DNA of Christ is in you. You have a new nature in Him, and if you walk in Him, that new nature will be manifested in you as fruit of the Spirit.

Paul explains this truth so beautifully in his Epistles. When the Jews were still arguing about what they had to do to be saved – to be circumcised and to keep the Law of Moses, Paul made a powerful statement that summarized the truth:

(Galatians 6:15, NKJV)
For IN CHRIST Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a NEW CREATION.

Paul’s statement is consistent with what Jesus said about being born again, even though Paul was not one of Jesus’ 12 disciples. This was a revelation of the Holy Spirit to him.

Christianity is not about getting circumcised or keeping the law to receive salvation, it is about being a new creation in Christ. It is not about religious rituals that must be kept, but about living in by faith as a new creation in Christ. It is not about what we do for Him but what He has done for us on the cross.

What happens when you received Christ? Jesus came to live in your heart by His Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of life came to live in us, our spirit-man that was once dead came alive as a new creation. The seed of the resurrection life of God with all its potential is now in our hearts waiting to find its expression through faith. The love of God has been poured out in our hearts (Rom 5:5). The curse of the line of Adam has been cut off, and we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Eph 1:3).

This new man in us is created according to God with the nature of God – in true righteousness and holiness.

(Ephesians 4:23-24, NKJV)
…and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the NEW MAN which was created ACCORDING TO GOD, in true RIGHTEOUSNESS and HOLINESS.

As a new creation, you are righteous and you are holy. We need to be renewed in the spirit of our mind; to be conscious of who we are in Christ, in order to walk in the reality of this new man. Today, do not focus on what you have to do. Focus on who you are in Christ. Christianity is about being and not doing. When you know who you are in Christ, you will end up with the right doing. He will guide you from within as to what He wants to do through you.
